Recycled plastic
Recycled plastics saves energy and oil
Icebug uses recycled material whenever it is possible, without compromising on functional quality. We use as much recycled content as possible to save raw materials, use less energy, and generate less climate emissions than virgin materials. Checking the footprint of our most used recycled materials (nylon and PET) in the Higg MSI data base shows that recycled material saves about 20-65% of carbon emissions.
The source of recycled materials can either be scraps from manufacturing or post-consumer waste. An example of post-consumer waste that we use is recycled PET (plastic) bottles. After the contents of the bottle have been consumed, it is recycled into something that we can use rather than ending up in a landfill. To ensure legitimacy, we partner with suppliers with certificates that guarantee the source and traceability of recycled materials (GRS certificates or similar).
